Guess where I was yesterday, chicas?
Only in blimmin’ parliament! Yep, that big swanky place in Londinium where all the BIG decisions are made.
Why?
Well, I was meeting with Diana Johnson MP and her fab team to discuss PSHE and body image classes becoming compulsory in schools - I can’t believe that they’re NOT compulsory - she was as keen as me to make this happen, and I’m very excited to be working with them in the future!
If you don’t know already, as well as being an author-girl and an agony aunt, I’m a PSHE practitioner, which means I go into school and deliver different parts of the curriculum in fun Lisa-like ways. I LOVE my job - the book writing, the agony aunt-ing and the PSHE classes because I am so passionate that gorgeous girls like yourself, have access to ALL the information you need to be confident, kick-ass, to love what you see when you look in the mirror, to be able to communicate with your parentals and to become as feisty, fun, fearless and fabulous as you absolutely deserve to be. In fact I’ve never been MORE passionate about anything in my life.
But, to make sure I’m doing it right, gorgeous girls, I need your help!
What are the PSHE lessons in YOUR school like? Are they good? What would you like to learn about? How many do you have a week and for how long? Would you want classes about body image or are you bored of hearing about it?

She doesn’t put make-up on to cover up, she puts it on to enhance her too-cute features because pampering is all about the fun. It doesn’t have to involve putting make-up on either, it can be taking a soak in a filled-to-the-brim bubble bath, rubbing yummy coconut smelling body lotion on each morning or preparing a DIY face mask. If you enjoy looking after yourself, other people will pick up on your positive ‘tude and you will become a walking, talking, primping poster girl for all things Beauty*licious - damn, you’re pretty!

- Always express your feisty, fun, fearless and fabulousness - you know you’re all these things no matter what look you’re working, right?
- Never blend. Evah. Instead of trying to cover up what’s different about you - experiment, ignore trends and figure out how to accentuate your fabness so you’ll be sure to stand out in a crowd.
- Rock a look that feels completely right for you. If you take the chance to be seen, it doesn’t matter if no one else digs it. You’re a star-shaped, glitter-girl, baby and you call the shots on how you look in your world.

Sometimes chicas, bad stuff happens.
We argue with our parentals, the boy we’ve been crushing on for like, forever, doesn’t heart us back, we get bad marks for something we studied super-hard for, we fall out with our bff - whatever the ‘bad stuff’ is, an instant response is to take props from Grumpy Bear and develop a permanent raincloud of grump above our head. We want to crawl under our duvet indefinitely, only coming out to get another tub of ice cream from the fridge, right?
Pink Ladies, just like you, I know that I rock, and when I look in the mirror, I like what I see - I have sparkly-eyes, a cute smile and a fabulous ability to accessorise, but for a while now, despite having written Beauty*licious, I forgot to show myself, and my body, the love it deserves.
I’ve been using it as a trash can putting way too much bad food in it and not enough good food, I’ve not pampered or looked after myself nearly enough, and haven’t been doing pilates and walking, which I love, as often as I should…
Today I am wearing ridiculously over-priced labels and speaking in a super-posh ‘It’ girl accent.
Why?
Because I’m super-excited about the launch of new book Young, Loaded and Fabulous - read about it here - that’s why!

Oh, it’s good. It’s very, very good.
It’s a one-of-a-kind companion book to the hella-popular-as dramedy and has cleverly been created to look like an issue of Mode that Betty has edited herself. It’s designed in the form of magazine articles based on the show’s storylines, all told from Betty’s unique point of view - it’s clever, cool and really funny - I’m just super-jealous of the writer/editor that got to put it together!
