Lindsey, Aimee, Me, Susie

My gal-pals - I LOVE them. Fact.

I never really used to be a girl’s girl, in fact up until about 8 years ago, most of my friends were boy-types - shhh, don’t tell them, but they’re ever such low maintenance - but what I didn’t know, that I do now, is that having gal pals makes life significantly better. Especially when they come in the shape of my friends, who I simply adore. They may be scattered across the globe - everywhere from NY, Glastonbury, Australia, Italiano, London, San Fran, Scotland - but to know they’re just a call or an email away, makes me happier than any pair of Vivienne Westwood shoes ever could…

Sarra and I

Sarra Manning - Author girl, editor and my number one inspir-o-girl.

Why? Because when Sarra was Ed-girl at my all-time favourite magazine J17, she put up with endless emails from me asking if I could write for the magazine, to shut me up she gave me an internship, I was beside myself and got to write for at least 4 issues before it closed - that was nothing to do with me, btw - that was where my freelance career began - Sarra, you rule.

Leonie Allan - goddess.

Leonie’s lovely, beautiful and magical – she hosts creative e-courses that I LOVE, I did her her Creative Goddess e-course and it was totes bliss-kissed, she provides goddess guidance, creates ah-mazing art - I have a piece on the wall of the Pink Palace, and she writes an inspir-o blogginz that you should definitely subscribe to….yep, I’m a fan-girl. Her blogginz and gorgeous art make me smile happy smiles right from my heart – J’adore.

Poppy-King

Poppy King - lipstick queen.

I am shame-faced that I only found out about Poppy and her lipsticks o’ loveliness in December. I bought her book Lessons of a Lipstick Queen purely by chance in a bookshop in Brighton, and I fell in girl-crush with her honesty, authenticity and total fabulousity - she started her own lipstick brand when she turned 18, because she couldn’t find any lipsticks that she liked. She wanted lipsticks that gave her the look of the 1940’s. Rich, opaque and filled with pigment. So… On a whim she found manufacturers to mix up some lipsticks, a business partner and the nerve to approach a few stores. It became a run away success! Obviously there’s a whole lot more to the story than that, so if you haven’t read it, go buy a copy now, you will be inspired - this woman is kick-ass.

Paloma-Faith3

Paloma Faith - lady o’ creativeness

Not only is she the creator of my favourite album of 2009, The Truth or Something Beautiful, she’s crazy talented, she’s kooky, she’s a li’l dorky, she’s funny and she wears the best outfits I have EVER seen. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE.

l_7e6bb78b02984ca19e5eee97d3eafded

The Piperita Patties - best girl-band. EVER.

I LOVE their shouty, feel-good, sugar-coated lyrics, I LOVE that Miss Maria Luisa is one of my BFF’s, I LOVE them. Simplez.

Cathy Cassidy

Cathy Cassidy - Author-girl and cheerleader

I’m so lucky that my mentor is Miss Cathy - she’s a super-talented children’s author, she tells me everything is going to be alright when I think I might pull my hair out, she lets me stay in her tipi - I only lasted one night! - And she’s one of the best friends a girl can ask for - I heart you CC!

There is simply not enough room for me to include ALL my favourites, but rest assured Pink-world will be filled-to-the-brim with SO many inspir-o-girls ALL year! Care to share some love for your favourite ladies?

So, how’s it been for you? Have you been giving yourself sweet, sweet lovin’ EVERY single day? It’s definitely a habit I don’t ever want to break, because, well…it’s a li’l bit fabulous, isn’t it? Now, just because the 10 day challenge is up, it doesn’t mean the lovin’ has to stop. No way. In fact, this is just the beginning, you’ve got to keep flexing that I Heart Me muscle as often as you possibly can, because when you indulge in the self love stuff, you shouldn’t be surprised when the universe decides to shower you in an abundance of love and kisses too because, well, that’s just how it works and who wants to argue with that? Not me, that’s for sure!

Do you love the Sark poster above? The gorgeous girls at Girlie Girl Army posted it today suggesting we should print it out, put it on our mirror and remind ourselves how dee-liciously lovable we are - how fabu?!!

The question: “What do I need to do to love my sweet, sweet self today?”

The answer: creating a psychic bubble o’ protection.

So, I’ve been working on a brand-new-book-idea which I’m head over Westwood heels in heart with, and I rarely share my book ideas because I get scared that the really good stuff will escape from my head if I actually talk about it, but today, for some reason, I decided to share a li’l bit of the brand-new-book-idea.

Wrong move.

I was shot down before I’d even finished the sentence. ‘You can’t write about that!’ my friend said, ‘you should really just stick to what you know, Lisa.’ Now, I wasn’t expecting her to blow trumpet fanfares and declare it the best idea in the entire world, but well…I wasn’t expecting that either. Thing is, taking a step back from the situ, I can see that she was probably not the person to share good news with - she’s got a touch o’ the grumps at the moment and isn’t able to share any kind of happy goodness with anyone - but it did give me a kick-butt reminder to create a psychic shield to protect my sweet self against other people’s negative energies.

Whenever you’re in a negative situ - your boss snaps, your parental gets mad, a shop assistant is rude - imagine a bubble surrounding your body (mine’s pink, natch) that absolutely nothing can penetrate, it will help what’s negative simply bounce off it.

So, we’re more than half way through the 10 day I HEART ME love-in - are you giving yourself a big bundle o’ sweet, sweet lovin’?!

Today, I’m charging up new crystals in the sunshine, eating malteasers - yummers - and indulging in an entire day of fiction writing. Yes, I know it’s my job, but I LOVE my job and it means I get to go visit Paris, Italy AND LA all from the comfort of my li’l seaside cottage… Although, I can’t think of anything nicer than walking along the River Seine on a cold sunshine-y morning - tres magnifique! Still, if I can’t be there, going there in my imagination, is the next best thing, right?

The question: “What do I need to do to love my sweet, sweet self today?”

The answer: Create.

I had a li’l wobble this week. In fact, it was quite a substantial wobble and I found myself questioning who I really was. I know, that’s a bit deep for a Friday, isn’t it? Luckily for me though, I have access to a toolbox o’ SASSY goodies, so today, I decided to create the vision of who I am beneath all the doubts, fears and insecurities - it was such a deliciously lovely thing to do for myself… I asked myself, what would my life look like if I completely loved, approved of and accepted myself?

What would I really, really like to let go of in order to move closer to that image of the best, most pink and fabulous me?

In my journal I answered the following questions…

• What kind of girl am I really?
• What are my natural character traits?
• What would I be like today, if my upbringing had been completely nurturing and supportive? If I was raised to believe in myself unconditionally?
• Who is the “ME” that I was born to be?
• What are my gifts and talents?

Now, I plan on holding this kick-ass vision of who I’ve created in front of me and I’m walking towards releasing with total love anything that takes the shine off that vision o’ fabulousness. I’m so worth the time and effort. After all, if it isn’t me, why keep it right?!

How are you all doing? Care to share?

The question: “What do I need to do to love my sweet, sweet self today?”

The answer: Write.
Now, I write for a living, so this is something that I do EVERY day, but my real love and passion is buying pretty, pretty journals, putting pen to paper and filling them with words from my head. Seriously, it’s cheaper than any kind of therapy and all you need is a small commitment of time, a pen, a notebook and an open mind.

Writing something down can clear A LOT of space in your mind and heart. It helps put your thoughts into order and can relieve a whole lot of stress and confusion as well as allowing your creativity to flow. FYI: I have some of my BEST ideas for stories and projects when journaling. I use felt tip pens to write because I love how they soak the page with colour, I draw and stick pictures in too. Start journaling today - life will become far more interesting, promise.

The question: “What do I need to do to love my sweet, sweet self today?”

The answer: I had a big important meeting in the Londinium, so I before I left, I took myself for a really long beach walk - yep, I live literally a minute from the sea and on a cold sunshine-y day, there really is nowhere I’d rather be, and while the crashing waves could have provided a dee-lish soundtrack to my travels, instead, I plugged into my gorgeous gal-pal Kelianna - have you heard this girl sing? Oh-my-freakin’-stars. J’adore. Not just because she makes yummy breakfasts - she does y’know, but because her voice is like a gazillion angels soothing your soul. That was quite possibly the nicest thing I could have done to show myself the sweet love today - fresh air, bee-you-tiful scenery and the prettiest voice to fill my head with loveliness. Le sigh.

So, did you ask the question?

“What do I need to do to love my sweet, sweet self today?”

You did? What was the reply?

Mine was really simple - make pancakes, fill ‘em with banana and nutella, feed myself aforementioned pancakes. Yummiest food EVAH.

Yep, it’s Day 2 of the I HEART ME love in and when I asked myself the I HEART ME question:

“What do I need to do to love my sweet, sweet self today?”

My answer? Fly my Freak Flag!

Y’see, I woke up to an email from one of my favourite illo-girls Miss Violette this morning and she’s just created a Fly Your Freak Flag range of stationery and it got me to thinking, today, I’m going to fly MY Freak Flag!

What does fly your freak flag mean? Violette explains:

When I think of flying your freak flag I think of letting your eccentricities and offbeat manners out without worrying about social norms. When we give ourselves permission to “fly our freak flags” we become more authentically ourselves. In the creative world, many artists fly their flags and find that things fall into place for them when they do. Rather than trying to copy someone and “be them” we listen to the whispers of our soul and follow it’s call.

My whole world opened up once I gave myself permission to embrace my eccentricities. It was as if a miracle occurred. It will happen for you too if you just “allow” the real you to emerge and to forget what other people will say. The thing is (and I’m letting you in on a little secret here) they’ll talk about you no matter what you end up doing! You’ll either be too wild and crazy or too boring. What would you rather be?

In his book “The Four Agreements” Don Miguel Ruiz has four rules you should live by - one of the agreements is: “Don’t take anything personally - what you think of me is none of my business.” When you finally subscribe to this belief and do what your heart moves you to do you’ll feel a huge weight being lifted from your shoulders.”

Woohhoo! It’s day 1 of the I HEART ME Love In and what better day to start than V-day?

To catch up on all the love-stuff goodness, check out the previous ‘I Heart Me’ post for details - but, just so you know, you don’t have to start today, you can start whenever you’re ready to make a commitment to yourself to ask your self, every single day for the next 10 days…

“What do I need to do to love my sweet, sweet self today?”

So, on this 1st day o’ love, what are you doing to show yourself the love stuff? As I’m a pink lady too, I wouldn’t expect you fabulous ladies to be doing anything that I’m not doing, so….

shhh

Today, I woke up, asked myself the question and sat still as I waited for the answer. I rarely ever give myself quiet time and I won’t lie, part of me was itching to go switch on the ‘puter and check my blackberry, but the other part was relishing a li’l bit of quiet time, so today I have given myself a day to myself without the radio/music/or the teevz. Now this is a BIG deal for me, I’m one of those girls that loves a li’l noise. But it really felt like today, I needed a li’l time out and d’ya know what? It’s been awesome.

I’ve read 3 different books - Shhh, don’t tell anyone, but I’ve got an advance copy of The Carrie Diaries - the book about Carrie Bradshaw’s life before SATC - FYI…it’s amazing, written in my journal, made a new dream board, sipped hot chocolate, burnt ylang-ylang insence, watched the pretty, pretty tea lights flicker and just enjoyed the peace and loveliness of a super-clean (my mumma’s coming to visit this week!) Pink Palace - it’s been total bliss-kissed yumminess. I know I’ve got ever so much work to do this week, but just for today, to show myself the love stuff, I’ve given myself the gift o’ time out and silence…Le sigh.

Your turn chicas - what have you done to love yourself today? Tell me everything!

As February is officially the month o’ love here at Pink-world - I’ve been thinking, what can we do to make sure we embrace all the love stuff we possibly can? Well, we can fall head-over-Vivienne Westwood heels in love with our sweet-as-sugar selves, that’s how…

So, we know that we need to nurture and love the earth in order for it to survive, right? Well, the same applies to Pink Ladies - our gorgeous goddess bodies, our filled-to-the-brim with amazingness minds and our big and beautiful souls - all need to be loved, nurtured and looked after if we’re going to be the kick-ass girls o’ awesomeness we’re destined to be!

Y’see, girls CAN CHANGE THE WORLD. It’s factuality. Thing is, we won’t be able to change anything unless we take care of ourselves, love the reflection looking back at us in the mirror and support other Pink Ladies to do exactly the same…

So, from tomoz, I’d love, love, love for all you fabulous Pink Ladies to commit to a 10-day I HEART ME love-in. Every morning, for the next 10 days, I want you to take a look in the mirror and ask yourself:

“What do I need to do to love my sweet, sweet self today?”

Why? Because with all the homework, chores, work, dates, nights out with friends and hobbies we all do, we sometimes forget to take the time out to work out what we REALLY want…So ask the question, then sit back and listen - what is it need to do today to show yourself some love? An hour in a bubble-filled bath reading a good book? A long walk to kick-start the endorphins? A nap? Chats with friends? Time to meditate? A cupcake?

We’re starting tomoz, because not only is it V-day - the day o’ love, but it’s the new moon AND it Chinese New Year - it’s going to be an all kinds of fabulous day to start amazingly powerful NEW beginnings…
Work out what part of your life could use a li’l hearting, then make a commitment to bring more of that love stuff into your life!

I’m going to be posting here every day, letting you know what my answer is when I look in the mirror - I’d LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to read yours too, so if you’re ready to embrace the love stuff, please commit yourself in a comment below saying: “I, Pink Lady…(insert your name here)… am taking part in the I HEART ME love-in!” then, come back each day and share your I HEART ME commitments with me!

There is NOTHING more feisty, fun, fearless and fabulous than a Pink Lady who loves herself - inside and out. Fact.

abstract_girl_putting_on_make_up_print-p228472306113524996t5ta_400

You ever heard that saying, “your body is a temple?”

Well, when you’re Beauty*licious, you worship at the temple of you every single day.

What we do to our body, or put in it, is a reflection of how much we dig ourselves. So it makes a whole lot of sense that if you want to look and feel fierce and fabulous, you have to treat your body with respect and keep it in perfect-o working order. Right?

Which is why Pink Ladies, like myself and Lola, worship our fabulousness by staring in the mirror, primping and experimenting daily with various Beauty*licious rituals. Not only is it a major source of fun, it’s a chance to play goddess-girl with our appearance, max-up our self-image and gives us that super-important moment in the day to say: “Hey Gorgeous Girl - you’re looking seriously Beauty*licious!”

Y’see, a true Beauty*licious Pink Lady will work her beauty routine out of pure prettifying pleasure NOT out of self-loathing. She doesn’t put make-up on to cover up, she puts it on to enhance her too-cute features because pampering is all about the fun. It doesn’t have to involve putting make-up on either, it can be taking a soak in a filled-to-the-brim bubble bath, rubbing yummy coconut smelling body lotion on each morning or preparing a DIY face mask. If you enjoy looking after yourself, other people will pick up on your positive ‘tude and you will become a walking, talking, primping poster girl for all things Beauty*licious - damn, you’re pretty!

Beautification 101

- Always express your feisty, fun, fearless and fabulousness - you know you’re all these things no matter what look you’re working, right?

- Never blend. Evah. Instead of trying to cover up what’s different about you - experiment, ignore trends and figure out how to accentuate your fabness so you’ll be sure to stand out in a crowd.

- Rock a look that feels completely right for you. If you take the chance to be seen, it doesn’t matter if no one else digs it. You’re a star-shaped, glitter-girl, baby and you call the shots on how you look in your world.

WIN! WIN! WIN! What would your tips for being beauty*licious be? What prods do you love? What makes you feel fab about yourself when you look in the mirror? The best comment will receive a copy of Beauty*licious and some glitter-fabulous Barry M prodz - closing date is February 14th 2010.

For more love-yourself Beauty*licious tips, buy your copy of the rather-fabulous-if-I do-say-so-myself Beauty*licious from amazon

Hola chicas - so how was January for you? Did you love the snow?

Deluxe Silk Duvet - Queen

I worked ever-so-hard throughout January on two new writer-girl projects (will tell you all about them just as soon as I’m allowed - promise!) but do you know what I’d love? If January was a hunk-a-dunk time, where you got to spend A LOT of time under a duvet hunkering down, watching old movies, eating cupcakes and plotting and planning for all the goodness the year is going to be filled with, because let’s face it, January is a toughie of a month, isn’t it?

So many people set new years resolutions - like I’ll eat less and exercise more - yet here in the UK, January is cold and damp, it’s still blimmin’ winter y’know, so not only do you not want to go out as much, you also really want to eat yummy comfort food too - mmm, cupcakes. So while I set myself intentions, I didn’t make any promises I couldn’t keep - coz let’s face it there was no way I was going to be snowed in for a week and not eat chocolate - are you serious?!

imbolc-lamb

Which is why today, I’m celebrating the pagan festival of Imbolc in gorgeous Glastonbury. Imbolc is an old Irish term meaning ‘in the belly’, referring to the ewes that are soon going to give birth to the spring lambs - look at ‘em, how caa-ute? It’s celebrated at the start of February, midway through the winter, because the excitement of all things Yule-like is over and we’re all feeling a li’l cold and glum. Imbolc is a much better time for a new start, although perhaps without the resolutions!

love

So lets make a new start by declaring February the month o’ love - yes, feb the 14th is officially V day, but I, Lisa Clark, Princess o’ Pink, declare the entire month, a month o’ love. Cartoon hearts and love stuff isn’t just for our latest crush y’know, it’s for our sweet selves and for our friends and fam too. Throughout Feb, I’ll be posting all kinds of Think Pink-inspired ways to fill your life with love and it won’t just involve me posting pics of hot boys I heart - well, it might, but just a li’l bit…

So, you know how I’m crazy for the compliments? Start by giving yourself some lovin’ each morning by telling the gorgeous girl who is staring back at you in the mirror that she is ’simply gorgeous and fabulous in every way.’ Go on, every day, before you leave the house, ‘k? Then, be sure to shower the people you love with feel-good-stuff by telling them how great they look, that you love their bag, that their new hair-cut rocks - be sincere, only say things you mean, just don’t be shy about spreading a li’l compliment goodness each day!

What are you going to do to share the love?

getimage

Ohhh chicas, this is a li’l bit exciting, Dyan Sheldon author-girl of Confession of a Teenage Drama Queen and new book My Worst Best Friend has come to play in our world o’ pink - hurrah!

So, when I was 12, it was the opening night of the school play and as I walked out on stage, I literally landed on my bee-hind in a pretty spectacularly embarrassing way.

What did I do, you ask? Did I cry? Run off? Hell to the no. I declared; “I have arrived!” and continued reciting my lines from the stage floor. The audience laughed, the pink in my cheeks slowly subsided and everyone clapped.

What’s this all about? Well, sometimes life throws us a curveball, an awkward sitch, a not nice scenario, and at the time, it can feel icksville, but believe it or not, it can be the beginning of something awesome. I got a phone call yesterday that threw me a little. I was upset, I felt a little freaked out and I wobbled. I then rang Miss Cathy who later messaged me and I think it’s the most awesome advice any of us can follow…

snowheels2

“…Miss Lisa is putting on shiny pink heels… stepping out into the snow… slowly, at first, and then adding a little wiggle… then whirling around, dancing… reaching out her fingertips to catch every snowflake, every sparkle, that comes her way… go for it!
 xxx…”

No matter what life throws at you, make a quick save, hold your head up and before you know it, you’ll have flipped it into a moment to shine.

You know that I’m a HUGE fan of Miss Sarah at Temporary Secretary, and you really don’t need to ask why when she keeps creating cute, cute prodz like this ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’ necklace, do you?

I’ve just ordered the pink one, natch, as a li’l reminder to myself to chill when my head gets messy and stressy! They’re £22.50 from www.temporary-secretary.com

‘Keep Calm and Carry On’ was a motivational poster produced by the British government in 1939 during the beginning of World War II, because, let me tell you, the grandparentals have got game. Seriously, where do you go to when you want really good advice? Tap into your grandma. Is she a fortune teller? Probably not, but Gran has lived a lot longer than you, and you can learn from her experiences. Pals are great, of course, but sometimes peer pressure can have bad results. Grandma knows all about respect and dignity. In fact, I bet you’ll be surprised by how much she knows!

Ohhh, I can’t tell you how much I LOVE Miss Carla. It’s not that I don’t want to, I just literally haven’t got enough words to describe her fabulousity. I’ve never met her - although I really, really want to - yet we’ve been internet budz for over 5 years and now she’s gone and created my new favourite internet destination - Messy Carla: A Fashion Blog in A Size 16. Not only do both Carla and I get mistaken for Kimmie dolls on a daily basis, we both work our curves in a dangerous way - come meet her, you’ll fall in heart with her too!

It’s the last day of 2009 - how did that happen exactly?!!

Not only is today New Years Eve, it’s also a full moon and if you remember, last month I started the Pink-World full moon mood board club, right now I think I’m the only member, but basically, each full moon you create a mood board filled with all the things you’d like to evoke in your world o’ fabulousity for the month ahead, and because tonight’s full moon is a blue moon, it means whatever you create today will be mondo beyondo powerful - I’m putting on a playlist of tunes that includes both Doris Day and Lady Gaga and I’m going to be a cut and paste queen…

But before we all go reach for the scissors - how was 2009 for you? I think it was a tough one for lots of people and I know I spent most of it learning lessons - not always nice ones, taking responsibility for my actions and trying to remember how to Think Pink - I had to re-read Think Pink at least 4 times to remind myself how to actually do it…Jeez.

Anyway, I have it on good authority that 2010 is going to be kick-ass x 10000 - wohhooo!
Except, it can only happen if you release all your toxic, icky, negative thoughts and feelings and tonight’s New Year’s Eve blue moon is a perfect time to tell the cosmoverse what you want to let go of and what you intend to let in this year. Now, you know how Lola and I love to write lists why don’t you do the same?

The things I’m gonna banish to a town called yesterday, never to be seen again in 2010 are…

* Turning down invitations - I get invited to a lot of places, I know, aren’t I lucky? Except a lot of the time I don’t accept, and while it’s totes cool to say ‘no’, I sometimes say it because I’m a li’l bit lazy and think not going will be a whole lot easier than going…Now, I’m not going to turn into Jim Carey in the Yes Man but I do plan on banishing my lazy, sofa-loving self and being open to lots of fun, adventures and opportunities - exciting stuff!

* Bad thoughts about myself - this year I’ve been a li’l bit poorly, and that’s made me put on a li’l bit of weight, and while I’d think I was fabulous whether I was a size 14 or a size 24, there’s lots of things I can do to be much nicer to myself on a daily basis - starting with re-reading Beauty*licious!

* Bad thoughts about others - now I don’t know how you feel about astrology, but I’m a total Scorpio, which means that I can be very jealous and can have a real sting in my tail if you cross me. They’re not things I’m proud of, so this year I plan on letting go of all the stupid grudges and anger I’ve felt about people and situations over my lifetime, it’s going to be easier said than done, but life is way to short to be a big ol’ ball of knotty anger stuff, and if you let it all go, you make a whole lot of room that you can fill with pink, love-shaped good stuff - wohhoo!

Things I want to welcome into my star-shaped life o’ fabulousity in 2010 are…

* Love - not necessarily in the shape of a boy-type, but in ALL the shapes and forms that love stuff can happen - a smile in the street, new friends, old friends, sharing a tub o’ ice cream with your bestie at the movies, listening to your Grandpa’s stories about when he was young, hearing an amazing song on your ipod just when you need to, a sunset, a hug, a kiss…

* Adventures - whether they’re in the city I live or involve getting on a plane, I want adventures. LOTS of adventures.

* Work - I love that I’m paid to do work that I love, so I’d like many, many more new projects that involve writing books, features and programmes for schools, coaching, creating, meeting fabulous people like your sweet selves, and helping people to live life totally unlimited…

* Learning - I’m a geek girl. This is fact. So I love to learn, right now I’m taking an astrology class which is ever-so-hard but I really do love to learn so whether it’s life lessons, how to play Miley Cyrus’ The Climb on my gee-tar, or the entire lyrix to New York by JayZ word-for-word I am all about the learning…

You get the idea, right? PLEASE share your mood boards and 2010 banish/let in lists with everyone - once mine is made, I’ll put it live, just as soon as I can find the blimmin’ camera cable - why can’t I just have put it back where I found it?!!

Happy last day of 2009, gorgeous girls!

The fabulous Miss Carla’s response to the idea that Pink Stinks….

I don’t know about you, but I think the colour pink rocks.

I’m obviously going to say that, my site is called Pink-world, I live in a Pink Palace, I run pink-themed self-esteem workshops and I write books titled Think Pink, but I honestly think that pink is the prettiest, happiest, most fun and love-induced colour in the rainbow, so why are some people are trying to ban it?

Hey Pink Ladies - I’ve created a dream board every year for the past 5 years…I set aside an entire afternoon, put on an old movie - Some Like it Hot or Breakfast at Tiffany’s, collect up a ton of magazines that I’ve finished reading and cut out inspiring pictures, words and phrases that will invite all the things I would like into my world - not only is cutting and pasting a super fun thing to do, the process of creating a dream board filled with all the things you want actually works - awesome, right?

Even more awesome, is discovering that when you create it on a full moon, it becomes beyond powerful. The fabulous Jamie Ridler, encourages her readers to create a dream board each month. On the day of the full moon, Jamie posts a blog entry that has a space for you to add a link to where you have posted your dream board online. She has a lovely community of dreamers that visit each other and add their wishing power to your intentions - it’s totes magick!

Jamie says: “There is power and energy in the full moon. It represents the full strength of what is possible in the nighttime land of dreams. When you make your board on the full moon, take a moment to focus your attention, to say to yourself and the Universe, “This is what I wish to manifest this month.”

I’m definitely going to start doing this each month, the next full moon is on Dec 31st, how perfect is that? Instead of making resolutions that I’ll never keep, I’m going to create a dream board of all the things I’d like to fill my life with each month instead - are you going to join me?

Saw this and thought of you, chicas…

51rZNDB7pRL._SL500_AA240_

Hey chicas - sorry I haven’t been updating, it’s been my birthday (pix to come!) and as per usual I plan on stretching it out for the entire month o’ November - but I HAD to tell you about this book - I ADORE it.

Dear Me; A letter to your Sixteen year old self includes letters from three knights, a handful of Oscar winners, a bevy of Baftas, an intrepid explorer, a few teenage pop stars, an avid horticulturalist, pages and pages of bestselling authors, a dishy doctor, a full credit of film directors, a lovey of top actors, a giggle of comedians and an Archbishop! The letters range from the compassionate to the shocking via hilarity and heartbreak, but they all have one thing in common: they offer a unique insight into the teenager who would grow up to be…. Stephen Fry, Annie Lennox, Paul O’Grady, Jackie Collins, Fay Weldon, Alan Carr, Peter Kay, Debbie Harry, Brenda Blethyn , Jonathan Ross, Liz Smith, Will Young, Alison Moyet, Rosanne Cash, Sir Ranulph Fiennes, Yoko Ono, Emma Thompson…

It’s guaranteed to make you laugh, make you cry and is a perfect Christmas gift. Not only that, but £1 from each copy sold goes towards The Elton John Foundation, so you’ll be doing a good deed too.

Here’s a letter to my sixteen year old self - yep, that’s me, with a v.young Declan Donnelly! FYI: I didn’t discover tweezers until I was 18, don’t judge me, ‘k! - Let me know what you think…

-7

Dear Lisa at sixteen,

Firstly, I know right now you are crushing on Gary Barlow and working out ways to make him marry you, but sweet thing, he marries Dawn the dancer and they have really pretty children. On the plus side, all that Ant and Dec stalking following pays off, and you end up working with them for three years - result, non? Oh, on the Take That front, they split up next year, but don’t fret, they get back together in 10 years time and are just as amazing.

You need to chill out. A lot.
Stop stressing about being thinner, being cooler, being popular or whether you’ll actually get a boyfriend - none of it actually matters because you rip up the cool-kid rule book and write your own. Literally.

FYI, you’re probably the thinnest you’ll ever be right now - stop beating yourself up about it, seriously, celebrate your curves and don’t get hung up on your wobbly bits, don’t keep putting off doing thing until you’ve lost 5lbs - you want to do something? Do it now! Oh, and those so-called cool kids at school? Turns out in the real world they’re not so cool, who knew, huh?

I know you don’t dig standing out right now, but it’s set to become your ‘thing’ - if people are going to stare, you really should give them something to stare at, gorgeous girl. And yes, you may come from a single parent family on a council estate, but don’t listen to those people who say ’stop daydreaming’ or ‘you need to get a real job’ because chica, you never have a ‘real’ job. Dream big sparkle-filled dreams, plan amazing adventures, write lists of all the the things you’re going to achieve and then tick each one off as you achieve them, because you will - you’re kick-ass.

Don’t waste time learning the guitar, Lee Cooper will fancy you anyway, don’t spend your pocket money on Rimmel’s Black Cherry lipstick, it doesn’t suit you, and read other books beside Point Romance novels - it’ll really help.

You will always be surrounded by beautiful boys - unfortunately for you, most of them will be gay, but they’re ever so pretty to look at and treat you like the princess that you absolutely are. Despite wanting to kiss one of your best mates throughout your entire time at college, don’t. He’s still your friend at 30 and you won’t want an awkward kiss ruining super-fun cinema and dinner dates. You’ll kiss other boys. A lot of boys. In fact kissing becomes quite the past time. Some boys aren’t that nice, but others are beautiful, funny and great company - you might not believe me, but you’ll actually spend smooch time with a pop star and a Dolce and Gabanna (that’s a swanky fashion label!) model. One boy in particular steals your heart and for eight years you have fun-filled adventures, own a pile of bricks and share endless thoughts and dreams. He does eventually break your heart, but please don’t let that stop you from doing it all over again.

Throughout your early 20s, life might not be the fairy tale you expect it to be, but don’t be disheartened, because you can and will become author, stylist and star of the most awesome story ever…your life. It will be filled with the most amazing and exciting people and adventures and you’ll realise that it doesn’t matter where you come from, it’s where you’re going that counts.

Lisa xx

Today is National Poetry day and to celebrate I’d love to share my favourite poem of all time with you, it’s called Phenomenal Woman and it’s by poet, author, activist, producer, actor, director and inspir-o girl, Maya Angelou. I have this poem hanging in the boudoir of the Pink Palace - buy yours here - so that it’s the first thing I read every morning and the last thing I read at night - I love it, hope you do too…

Phenomenal Woman

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I’m telling lies.
I say,
It’s in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

Care to share your favourite poems, Pink Ladies?

Part of me wants to turn all lifecoach on their bee-hinds, but the other part of me just wants to give them big hugs, because I can’t imagine how crazy it must be to split up with someone in public…it’s tough times splitting with a boy-type at the best of times, but in front of the entire world? Not cool.

post_it_note_love.jpgYep, it’s official - I’m back in the world o’ pink - woop, woop!

It’s Monday, and that can mean only one thing… it’s time to get Bodaciously Beauty*licious!

I’m happy.

Why?

If you’ve read Think Pink, you’ll know that both Lola and I are compliment-collecting crazy - we keep them safe for days when we feel glum, then we get them back out and splash around in their general loviness.

Now, I’ve been compliment-collecting crazy this weekend. A cute boy from Liverpool told me my hair-clip - pink, natch - was ‘boss’, a girl called Claire came up to me in the train station to tell me I was funky - thanks Claire! and another girl told me how pretty my lip gloss was when I was re-applying it in the loo…compliment collecting is simply dee-lish. Fact.

logo_1.gifI was a total obsess-o girl about ElleGirl magazine way into my twenties. The UK version was awesome x 100, but the original, the US version, rocked. Hard. I used to get it shipped over I loved it so much, and the main reason I loved it, was pretty much down to two girls - Melissa and Anna.

M & A used to be ed-girls at ElleGirl and created the sparkly, witty, kick-ass content that made it so unique. Sadly, the mag is no more - boo. But Melissa and Anna, in all their awesomeness, have created I heart daily a brand-spankin’-new online destination of complete zine-style deliciousness - hurrah!

Go rent yourself the movie right now and sigh at her beauty, tip-tap around your living room and sing at the top of your voice - I think Cyd would have liked that!
