First DATES! <3

That erratic heart beats, though! Haha. 🙂

Yes, I’m talking about first dates. We all have that. Those embarrassing, shy, silent, brilliant first dates. I can’t remember exactly about my first date with this guy but as far as I can remember, it went just fine, not great, but fine.

How about your first day? Nervous? That’s normal. This is the “usual” (quote) first stage in getting to know each other. But no sweat, this do not require a lot of commitment. If it went well, goo, then have a second date. Didn’t go well? Well, that’s okay, you can find other datable guys. The thing about dating is that, have FUN.

But of course, we want to bring in our best foot forward. First impression last like they say.

What you should do? Here are my suggestions:

  1. Don’t suggest a movie.

For me, movies are meant and best saved for later on down the road. You know, when words aren’t needed any more because you’ve already gotten to know whoever it is you’re watching that movie with.

  1. Coffee is great start when meeting someone on a first date.

More than 30 minutes is beyond the limit. Never commit to any activity that will take longer than 30 minutes. This will save you  especially when your first date is a jerk you don’t want to spend time with. If coffee goes well and you guys hit it off, it is easy to get a guy to commit to a dinner and/or drinks.

  1. Consume the food.

If you are in a meal-consumption situation, please consume the food like you are enjoying it. Don’t consume too little because you don’t want to be noticed as “eating too much”. It’s polite to consume it.

  1. Honesty is always the best policy.

Right? Be straightforward and don’t put up a front. Why would you? This is the time to let your potential long-term-boyfriend know that you are human too and you have your quirks. Have bad habits? Let him know. Use the light, funny atmosphere to warm him up to the worst side of you.

  1. Don’t kill the chase too early.

If you do want that long-term situation, the worst thing you can do is give in to a guy’s advances too fast. Yes, it is a normal part of a relationship, but that doesn’t mean he shouldn’t work for it. Unlike other myths, this one is true.

It’s also a good indication that if the guy is really (like really, really) sincere, he’ll chase after you because you’re worth all the efforts. 🙂

  1. Have fun and show that you’re having a good time.

Chemistry is not always the case on every first dates but if it does, enjoy and have fun. You don’t have to be hypocrite about it. See tip #4 —  be honest.

There are other tips out there that can help you out but these ones are based from my experience that, I believe, are practical for every girls.
