There is nothing that watching Breakfast At Tiffany’s can’t make better.
I’ve had a pretty major attack of the Mean Reds for about a week now - I’ve sold my house, I’m desperately looking for a new pink palace to call my own and life, as it always seems to do, despite all of our Think Pink training, has a habit of getting a li’l bit real life-y.
Now, when Holly gets the Mean Reds her safe place is Tiffany’s, when I get the Mean Reds my safe space is watching her in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The movie just soothes me. I love, love, love watching Audrey play Holly, sometimes I wonder how different it would have been if Marilyn had got the job and other times I wonder what it would be like to be as chic as Holly - she looks just as beautiful in her jeans, jumper and turban as she does in her gorgeous black dresses, but most times I just lose myself in the complete fabulousness of it all.
Le sigh.
So Pink Ladies, this weekend I am re-fabulizing.
Now, you know my rules on wallowing. It’s allowed, but it needs to be for a limited time only, otherwise it becomes all dark, depressing and nasty. Earlier today I caught the advert for the next episode of The City - do you watch that? It’s my total guilty pleasure, Whitney I heart you! - Anyway, her boss, swanky fashion designer Diane Von Furstenberg, said ‘the most important relationship you’ll ever have, is the relationship you have with yourself.’ turns out Miss DVF isn’t just good with the dress making, she’s pretty freakin’ wise too, so I have taken it on as my personal mantra for the weekend.
I am Thinking Pink, I am watching my most favourite movie in all of the world, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, which will be followed by my second favourite movie in all of the world, Moulin Rouge, I’m then going to light candles, have the biggest bubble-filled bath and read Weetzie Bat by Francesca Lia Block from cover to cover for the millionth time, I’m then going to whisper sweet nothings to my reflection in the mirror and paint my fingers and toes with Barry M’s nail paint in Fuchsia - bliss-kissed.
Tomorrow, I am going to cut up magazines, make a dream board for the next year that will include trips to Italy, Paris, NY, LA and San Fran, I will create my pink palace, complete with a sea view, cupcake baking and pink and turquoise cushions and I’ll include pix of my dream boy who will be a li’l like Jose in Breakfast at Tiffany’s - dark and handsome with a passionate nature and too many teeth! Then, by Monday I will be officially re-fabulized and ready to take on the world!
So, gorgeous girls what gives you the Mean Reds? And what do you do to turn them pink? I’d LOVE to know!

There are a lot of things that give me the Mean Reds but instead of making them pink I turn them into a multicoloured rainbow of glitterness. Reading the Bible inspires me everday, hugging myself time to time, dancing because it releases endorphins (A.K.A happy gas), pampering myself, listening to inspirational music or just to get down, bake and bake and bake, think of more ways to make pump- shaped footprints in the world, try on adorable outfits, spend time with my family, write more because it’s what I love, love who I am and treat myself like the princess I am!

Hannah - you’re a total superstar! There will always be things that give us the Mean Reds, it’s how we deal with them that matter, whether it’s thinking pink or turning them into a multi-coloured rainbow of glitter! Go girl! I think I might be a li’l too old to rock the neon, but I LOVE that you’re lovin’ it, sweet thing! And YES, YES, YES you’re a princess. Fact!

Aww…thanks Miss Lisa. And thanks for the post, it really inspired me. Even if you think you’re too old to rock neon, you’ll always be the Queen of Pink!
