I was out walking this morning.
No, really, I was because I actually have a touch of the get-actives.
I’m keeping my happy hormones pumpin’ to chase away the post-holiday blues, they are proving to be suitably pesky and non-budging. Grr.
Anyway, that wasn’t the story, the story was, I was listening to Katy Perry’s One of the Boys and realised that some when, I can’t exactly pinpoint when, but in the last year or so for deffo, I’ve become One of the Girls.
As a teen girl, I used to deffo be One of the Boys. All my mates were boy-shaped, I was at my happiest in jeans and trainers and I loved nothing better than to get all hot and sweaty by pogo-in’ in the mosh pit.
Now though, I’m most deffo One of the Girls and do you know what? I LOVE it.
Five reasons I love being One Of the Girls…
1. Dressing up - I love dressing up, whether it’s legwarmers, a ra-ra skirt and long tee for a round of Singstar or a pretty prom dress with kicked in Converse for a night out with my gal pals, I LOVE dressing up!
2. It’s okay to be emo - I can cry at a movie, an episode of Ugly Betty, a book ending or because I’ve spilled pink nail varnish down my new cute dress and it’s totally okay…
3. Make up - I love not wearing any, but I also love experimenting with different looks, colours, pots and potions too and the good thing about being a girl? I can do both and rock them equally!
4. I get to hang with other girls - like I say, most of my mates used to be boy-shaped but I now love nothing more than to hang out with gorgeous girls of fabulousness - we can be deep and meaningful and put the worlds to right one minute, and singing into our hairbrushes and dancing around the living room the next…
5. Crushing - I know some boys do this too, but us girls are really rather good at it, crushing is by far the best way to spend an entire day - thinking ’bout why we dig on a person, writing their name over and over, setting up scenarios in order to be in the same breathing space as them…Sigh.
Are you One of the Girls or do you dig hanging with the boys? What do you love most about being a girl? Care to share, Pink Ladies?

I would say that I’m no longer one of the boys but not quite one of the girls. I think I’ve yet to find the right ‘gal pals’ and so I’m stuck with watching chick flicks, long lunches with big cakes, and trying on dresses I’d never be brave enough to wear all by myself.
That said, I still love my boy pals and that’s why I’ll be rocking male bridesmaids. Crazy!

I’m one of the girls who loves hanging out with the boys! It does look a little strange to see one wee lass in a pink dress hanging out with scruffy boys but I think my tastes in things besides fashion are quite boy-like so it’s a good match
