Ohmystars!
I am TOO excited.
Ugly Betty: The Book is out in September and I, Lisa Clark, biggest Ugly Betty fan ever, have got a copy.
Oh, it’s good. It’s very, very good.
It’s a one-of-a-kind companion book to the hella-popular-as dramedy and has cleverly been created to look like an issue of Mode that Betty has edited herself. It’s designed in the form of magazine articles based on the show’s storylines, all told from Betty’s unique point of view - it’s clever, cool and really funny - I’m just super-jealous of the writer/editor that got to put it together!
Articles range from fashion layouts, “What to Wear to Work” and “Making Your Prom Dress Work…Again”; career, “How to Survive Your Co-workers” and “15 Things Your Boss Should Never Ask You to Do”; relationship stories, “Are You With the Right Guy?”; beauty makeovers, “Before and After, From Alex to Alexis”; entertaining, “Throwing a Quinceanera” and “Ignacio’s Recipes”; Pop culture, “The Best Telenovelas You Don’t Know About,” and of course, the more serious pieces that are near and dear to Betty’s heart, “Proud to be Latina” and “Family: Bond More, Feud Less.”
It’s a total must-have for any UB fan. It’s literally filled-to-the-brim with everything UB-related you’ll ever need, well at least until the new series starts in mid-September, that is! Whoop, whoop!
I’ve got five copies to give away - to get your hands on one of them, simply leave a comment below as to why you NEED a copy of Ugly Betty: The Book.
Closing date: 10th September 2008

This is amazing. Betty herself was/is amazing. Oh my, I just can’t await when I will be able to read it.
Hmm, why I need this book? Couse I am an average girl, pretty and smart, but sometimes making horrible+funny mistakes in private life and in job as well. And girls like Betty just are the best examples, how to live and work, and how - not to.
UB just is, or, at least seems like a real girl. Thats why I like her. Couse of her imperfections and eternal positivism.

I lovelovelove Ugly Betty so much, for the pure fact that the workers at Mode have sort of, come to terms with the difference of Bettys fashion sense.
Betty doesnt even seem to care what they all think of her either, she sort of flips them to bird & gets on with everything.
Weirdly, Betty is an icon, a role model.
Be yourself, stand strong, come out winning.

Wooo! This is so cool to here that there is an Ugly Betty book coming out. I love the idea it is like a mode magizne. I think they should not just do a book but also do a Ugy Betty magizine.
I can’t wait till this Friday (5th September) aswell because the new series of Ugly Betty is starting. It seems like ages since the first series was out here in the uk!!!

OMG- this is awesome!!! I love Ugly Betty! I love that programme! I MUST GET MY HANDS ON THAT BOOK-NOW! There are so many reasons why I NEED this book, but one of them is:
-This book is perfect on teaching the hard-working, smart, normal, real girls what to do and what not to.
UB is a roel model; teaching girls that it’s alright to be yourself (you don’t have to be a size zero), you can eat real food, wear what you want and for that reason she is the most Beauty*Licious TV character in the world!! She’s an icon. BE YOURSELF AND LOVE IT COS’ EVERYONE ELSE IS TAKEN! I jsut have
SO CAN’T WAIT TILL THE 5TH SEPTEMBER!!

I have loved the idea of Ugly Betty every since the show started.
I find the idea of the show great as instead of being transformed into being stick thin, having great fashion sense, contacts, and no braces by the 10th episode the people at Mode have had to come accept her (in their own crazy way) and even the likes of Mark and Amanda have to admit she is good at her job. Having watched both seasons in full I can’t wait to see what season three holds! Maybe this book would fill that void until then?
I myself wish to be a writer at a fashion magazine just like Betty and she gives me hope that anyone can make it no matter what size, shape or colour they are!
So please Lisa could you besto this wonderful Ugly Betty book on me so that I can gain more inspiration to follow my dream !!!!!!

I NEED a copy of the Ugly Betty book because I need my my daily fix of the show. What with the writers strike in America, it seems an age since it was last on our screens! I’m afraid if I don’t get my Fix of Ugly Betty soon, I might turn into a ‘Mode Girl’ …… Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good afternoon Lisa Girl!
Hope you are well. I miss you.
Anyway’s:
I loved Ugly Betty from the moment it graced my TVbox. I adored the Devil Wear’s Prada and loved the whole fashion thing, but you just knew how gorgeous Andy was even pre-makeover. It was obvious. That isnt as obvious with Betty and even though we know how beautiful she is underneith the costume, I adore the fact that she hasn’t just had this magic makeover and become “beautiful” by super model standards.
She represents the real woman, not an airbrushed version of what a woman should look like.
I know so many people in the world, including myself, can relate to Betty, wanting to fit in with everyone else, just be accepted for who we are.
I adore her.
Yay Betty!

Hello i would love to get a copy of this book, we don’t get enough UB hype in the UK and it is quite clearly the best tv show out right now! I am borderline obsessive about this show and watch ugly betty twice on wednesdays once on friday and the repeat again on sundays and then sometime on channel 4 online!!! An extra ugly betty fix in the form of this book is just what i need especially since it has been off our screens for so long! If that is not enough to prove my need for this book, then the fact that i have just admitted my addiction to this web page - (although i am sure there are many others out there like me and it is fairly normal to many who would aslo want this book) should also prove how much i would like to get my hands on a copy
thanks xxx

I SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NEED THAT BOOK! BETTY IS AN EXAMPLE THAT YOU CAN BECOME A BE-AUTIFUL GIRL NO MATTER WHAT YOU LOOK LIKE! IT’S INSIDE WHAT COUNTS AND INNER BEAUTY ROCKS! SO TO BE THE PRETTIEST GIRL ON THE BLOCK, ALL YOU NEED IS INNER BEAUTY!
Thanks xx

Why i need it??
Because i am an average girl in an average world, we need more role models then just the stick thin wannabes.
I am tired of reading about who has dyed there hair blonde or gone into rehab now, or who has gone crazy at a party and made a fool of them selves then find out about all over the front of Who magazine the next day.
Us girls need a role model who is some one who we can relate to, learn from, get real fashion advise from - not just wearing a skimpy little top, get dating advise from - not just laughing at everything he says and causing breeze with your eyelashes, and so on so on.
This is a brilliant book and everyone should go buy one.
I need this book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Betty Soirez is one of a kind,
A Ugly Betty book - what a great find!
Inspiration for style and fashion,
I’d read every word with complete passion!
Like Betty I have opinions and ideas,
And long for acceptance amongst my peers.
I’m going to put my whole life on hold,
Until you send me my copy of Mode!

I NEED a copy of Ugly Betty the book as Betty is the epitome of the female role model. She has such a pure heart - a true heart of gold, && is completely uninterested in the commercial side of life. As far as the programme as a whole goes, it teaches young girls && GUYS how they should treat themselves and others, and that the stereotypical view we’re often fed in the media is not necessarily what’s best for us.
Ugly Betty teaches self respect and respect for others, to love yourself in order to be loved by others, and that goodness always wins over evil.
Ugly Betty is paving the way for young girls to grow up feeling comfortable in their own bodies, to except themselves for who they are && to stop putting themselves down.
I NEED a copy of Ugly Betty because then I can carry the words and wisdom of Betty around with me 24/7 to help guide others, and even for a bit of self help when the blues catch up with me - we’re not always immune to them
All in all though, please, please, please, please, can I ave a copy of the book - Betty Suarez is my inner child, luckily for her, someone found her && gave her her own show! xxx

Betty is such an amazing role model and she inspires me. She is proof that you don’t have to be perfect and a size zero to be happy and successful. Watching the show makes me feel better about myself because I wear glasses & braces and I am always worried that people won’t like me because I’m not very pretty. I don’t “fit in” but Betty is proof that you can look different, but as long as you stay true to yourself things will always turn out all right in the end.
The show makes me remember that what other people think of you is not important, but as long as you like yourself you will always be able to be happy.
Sooo glad the series is back in the UK now! ♥ ♥ ♥

I need this book because I love Ugly Betty - I really identify with her and think she is a great role model for women today, unlike Sex in the City and other skinny glamour filled shows.
The show teaches that there is no such thing as ugly, not really - beauty is all relative. Some have it on the outside, some on the inside, but all of us are beautiful, somewhere.

I need this book so on Christmas Day
I can give it to my daughter and she will say
That I’m the best mother anyone’s had
Even though sometimes I drive her mad
By telling her she’s beautiful both inside and out
Because she is often consumed by doubt.
I want her to believe she can be a success
And is as good as those she’d like to impress.
The book would help her think, “I can”,
And, of course, she’s a big Ugly Betty fan!

I love ugly betty!! She’s a real woman as is America Ferrera. It’s refreshing to see real women in tv programmes fighting to show real women in magazines considering the trend of size zero these days! I love watching Ugly Betty as it is a feel good programme I love to see on a friday night!! I would love to read this book as I’m sure it’s a feel good book too!

OMG!!!!! have to get my hands on one of these… skint at the mo so cant buy it for my self… Absoultly love Ugly Betty! … when i found out it was coming back out i was like … :O sooo watching it …. i got totally excited about it coming back on. This book seems really interesting and as im in to the whole fashion scene it would be cool to get a little more insight on the whole issues. Ugly Betty is like my role model … I love how her character dosent take notice of the rude and nasty remarks and still carries on with her life being her happy jolly self. This book sounds like it goes well with Betty and the program because on the 1st series back she was really worried and changed the fashion so. … I just searched the book for the price & that and got this site =P lucky because i wanted to do my GCSE dance based on this .. and maybe reading would give me more insight to the fashion scene. Thanks 4 reading this =] Xox.♥

ugly betty is a great inspiration and is a reminder in the fashion driven world that looks arent everything. Although the charachters in ugly better are on the extreme side of things, the population is scaringly starting to become like them. I NEED this book because ugly betty is the reason im im the confident young girl i am today. watching the show boost my self esteem beause it taught me at the end of the day as long as your a good person at heart, good things will happen to you. And this is 100% true. By having this book i can show my fashion driven friends the biggest priorites in life and that you dont need to be superskinny to be happy and beautful.. maybe then other girl in my year wont have as much pressure to look good like i did. thanks alot x

Look, I’m not going to ask for sympathy and stuff like the others, and I’m not lying when I say I’ve not won anything before. And this seems like a really cool book, and something I’d use from day to day. I watch the show alot, and there are some pretty important moral lessons on how to live your life, and just generally being grateful for what you have. I think that Betty is an inspiration to all and a positive role model to younger girls and makes big beautiful. And I reckon this book reflects on all of that, and alot more, so yeah It’d be pretty awesome if I won. So I’ll keep my fingers crossed haha
