I can’t believe I haven’t shared my latest schmooze with you…

IMG_0672.JPG

It’s only me and blimmin’ Alan Carr - he was totes adorable, btw! - he’s with the same publisher as me, and the publisher threw a swanky party for all their authors in a suitably swank locale in the Londinium, so I got to meet him - woohhoo! Gok Wan, James Martin and David Badiel were there too, but Alan rocked and ruled!
For any Americanos who haven’t had the pleasure of experiencing the genius that is Alan Carr, please youtube him, pronto.

He’s a legend.

Fact.

You are The Empress

Beauty, happiness, pleasure, success, luxury, dissipation.

The Empress is associated with Venus, the feminine planet, so it represents,
beauty, charm, pleasure, luxury, and delight. You may be good at home
decorating, art or anything to do with making things beautiful.

The Empress is a creator, be it creation of life, of romance, of art or business. While the Magician is the primal spark, the idea made real, and the High Priestess is the one who gives the idea a form, the Empress is the womb where it gestates and grows till it is ready to be born. This is why her symbol is Venus, goddess of beautiful things as well as love. Even so, the Empress is more Demeter, goddess of abundance, then sensual Venus. She is the giver of Earthly gifts, yet at the same time, she can, in anger withhold, as Demeter did when her daughter, Persephone, was kidnapped. In fury and grief, she kept the Earth barren till her child was returned to her.

Kimberly_Wilson.jpgMeet Kimberley Wilson. She can make your world significantly pinker. Fact.

Reasons why I heart Kimberley:

She hearts pink - hurrah, she has a black pug dog - I am envy-green!, she digs shopping, she loves dropping random french phrases - j’adore, and she has a fabulously swank book, website and podcast dedicated to becoming a Hip Tranquil Chick which is quite possibly the most dee-liciously sweet-as-sugar way to Love Yourself Up.

funnyface.jpgYou know I advocate a life filled with positive pink thoughts, but sometimes, just sometimes, life gets real lifey.

When this happens, I turn to films.

Like Lola, Audrey Hepburn is my homegirl too. There is really nothing an Audrey film can’t make better. Kickin’ back and watching a movie is quite possibly the nicest thing I can do for myself, I simply switch off and lose myself in on-screen fabulousness.

The film and scene that totally changed my life from mono to technicolour is Funny Face. Sigh. Apparently, I’m not allowed to embed it - boo, but if you haven’t seen it, you can check out the ah-mazing Think Pink scene here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmaffpKAYcw s’wonderful, s’marvellous.

__re_amazing.jpeYou’re amazing!

Not only is that a completely totes true statement, because believe me, you absolutely are, it’s also the title of a too-cool-for-school new book, by American-o inspir-o-girl, Claire Mysko.

You’re Amazing is a response to a report called The Supergirl Dilemma, compiled by Girls Inc.

The report showed that while real-life supergirls may not be wearing lycra and a cape, you are trying to do pretty much everything else - from getting good marks at school, to fitting in and dealing with fam and gal-pals. Claire wants you to give up the quest to become ’super’ and start celebrating what makes you amazing!

Claire, we think You’re Amazing!

When I was younger, I was told I wasn’t good enough, a lot. I was called fat and ugly, a lot.
Other people’s labels stick, they knock your confidence and make you feel super-sucky about yourself. Even now, when my thinking is low on pinkness, those taunts can hang over my head like a big, gloomy black raincloud from glumsville. That’s why I’ve dedicated this week to Lovin’ Yourself Up - a week where we’ll celebrate ourselves for the fabulous, fearless, mistake-making, perfectly imperfect, YOu-nique, gorgeous goddesses’ that we are…

So take a few minutes, watch this video and hug yourself up… Go on, give yourself a big ol’ hug - you’re awesome.
Fact.

Flumps.jpgDo you remember flumps? Those yummy marshmallow sweet treats that you used to have as a kid?

Well, the fabulous Anita, creator of www.atomicflump.co.uk has made them into super-cute adornments so we can get a sweet fix without the sugar high - cool, huh?

She also has a whole lot of other items o’ adorability that I’ve kinda fallen a little bit in love with too.
