Shhhh, I’ve got a secret…
I have discovered quite possible the cutest, most kitsch of online boutiques filled with glitter-kissed shopping fabulousness…
What? You want me to share?
Oh well, seeing as it’s you…beware though, if you’re heading over to buy a Christmas treat for your BFF, you will find it muchos hard not to purch some merch for your sweet self too!
And, as if I’ve not already spoiled you enough, I’ve got an interview with the lady behind the label AND an AMAZING On Cherry Lane competition too…go on then, read on!
Describe the girl behind the label in 5 words…
Fun, childlike, magical, sweet, dreamer
So what is On Cherry Lane?
The name came from me spotting a Vintage 1953 Children’s Book called On Cherry Street, I loved it so much, I changed street to lane and oncherrylane was born! It is, to me, a symbol of fun, our child within, the love of happiness and cute things that shouldn’t end when puberty does;DD
How do you decide what prods to sell?
Whatever makes me go WOW!, OR AWWWWWWWWW!!
Do you create prods yourself too? If so, tell us all about them - how do you create them, what’s you inspiro?
I do indeed. I work under the design name Dollyday and have a website where I sell my creations, www.dollyday.co.uk Many of my creations are either hand-sculpted or are laser-cut. My inspiration comes from my daydreaming, cute animations, vintage fairy-tales, cute japanese items and nature.
What would an On Cherry Lane soundtrack sound like?
An ice-cream truck mixed with childhood fun, bubble gum bubble pop with a hint of nostaligia and sprinkles on top!
What’s your best selling prod right now?
Cram cream cake-slice boxes.
What’s your style bible - book/mag?
I don’t have one as such. I look at vintage clothing, all the amazing indie-designer creations and japanese clothing.
How has setting up an online shop been for you - can you give us an insight please?
Kind of daunting, exiting, a great learning experience, fun, amazing, all rolled into one!
I received lots of help and support from awesome people without which I would have struggled so much. I am so grateful to them.
What’s your secret to success?
I never let what I can’t do interfere with what I can do and I ask for help!
Customer service is my top priority, without the customers, you haven’t anything but a shop!
What’s a typical day in the life of Bex at On Cherry Lane?
I answer emails, process orders, play with my kitties, design dollyday items, walk on the beach, daydream up new ideas, talk with friends, dance in my room like goof, sing badly, eat halva and drink cammomile tea:D
Quick fire round - what’s your fave:
colour: PINK!!
book: Chicken soup for the soul
magazine: Any craft magazine.
Place: My kitties tummies
City: London
What’s your motto for life?
“life is what we make it”
What advice would you give to wanna-be creative girls who wanna set up their own shop?
Go for it! You only live once and you should follow your dreams!
The colour pink. Discuss.
I LOVE the colour pink, it always makes me feel happy and super cute when I wear it. I also love to be surrounded with cute pink knick knacks. I even colour my hair almost every year with bits of pink:D
WIN!WIN!WIN!
The gorgeous Miss Bex - princess of On Cherry Lane - has put together a killah prize of kawaii treats for you to win including:
Decole sticker packs

Have a cute day means doing things that make you feel happy and cute! It means feeling super cute and confident about yourself! And perking up your day or someone elses! By making other people feel cute and yourself, you can have a cute day! =D

have a cute day means a day in which I can help people around me by creating (cute) stuff for them. It makes me feel good to see them happy. But the cute day also involves kissing my cute boyfriend (once in a while, or every time he comes too close, hihi). It makes us both happy, and it makes me feel grateful for what I have and can do to make other people’s day cute too.

I had a recent discussion with a friend of mine about the word “cute”. What does this word even mean and why has it become more popular than words like pretty or beautiful, even adorable? To mean the word “cute” is about something that is not only estetically pleasing, but also something that puts a smile on your faces and makes you feel good. Keepng that in mind, to me “have a cute day” means a day where one is feeling good and attractive not only about one’s self and people around you. Adding “cute” into one’s day is all about adding that bright spot without which a day could be decidedly dull and gloomy.

Have a cute day means doing little things for yourself that make you feel special. It’s the little things that make grown-up life a bit more bearable - like taking notes in class with a purple sparkle gel pen, or putting a care bears temp. tattoo on my bum, or wearing a fun-fur headband all day. It’s saying “Yes I’m an adult, but I like to feel like a kid in small ways, too.”

To me, ‘have a cute day!’ means doing the things that make you happiest. Sleeping for an extra half hour, cuddling with your favourite person and eating cupcakes all day long! Feeling truly happy, girly, special and wonderful for an entire day and nothing can get you down.

A cute day means to me no worries, feeling fabulous and living life like it should be lived! Just being healthy to me means so much, to be able to giggle, dance like mad, swoon over Wentworth Miller and turn everything pink around me is the cutest fabbest feeling ever.

To ‘Have a cute day’ means, in my eyes, to be nice to everyone you come across. To be caring, kind and genuinely helpful and not let your temper get the better of you at any time!
Everyone feels so much better when they’re getting along; you get a warm, comforted feeling and make good friends with all sorts of people- even those you wouldn’t ordinarily expect to get along with!

For me it’s spending a fun day with my two young daughters and not doing anything else except enjoying watching them play. Seeing my 1 year olds delight at discovering new things and my 3 year old play acting just makes me realise how lucky I am to have them.

‘Having a cute day’ would with out a doubt be a day spent with my 18 month old niece! Eating ice cream and sweeties (without her mum seeing) and shopping for pretty outfits for both her and I and picking flowers in the garden. Aww makes me smile thinking of her

A cute day is a unexpected lie in under the duvet.
A phone call from my fave friend inviting me for lunch.
A shop til I drop session
Then a snuggly night in with my man and my twins.

Surround yourself with pink and plush. Sew soft plushies with big eyes whom you give sweet names and welcome to your home, which is your own personal playground. Filled with adorable japanese characters and framed vintage prints. Eat cake and candy, blow bubblegum and drink lemonade.
Have a cute day!

For me a cute day is lounging around in my PJs with my little sisters, eating lots of comfort food, watching a classic chick flick like ‘Clueless’, dressing up in each other’s clothes and talking ’til dawn!
We all need a cute day once in a while =) x

My cutest day ever was watching my little boy in his Christmas play at school dressed up as a bowl of porridge and proudly singing his heart out. Also enjoying a winter walk in the woods wrapped up in our scarfs and hats then home for hot choccie in front of the fire watching the fairy lights twinkling on the Christmas tree, our dog Molly snoozing at our feet. Very cute ‘n’ cosy!

Cuteness is something that we see less and less in life today; to be able to incorporate that very cuteness in our days, inspired by a heartfelt wish “Have a cute day” is inspiring and already starts the ‘cute’ day. Cute is everything a girl should be.

Cute is a big snuggly jumper, scarf, fluffy hair, very light make-up and a big pout. So my husband seems to think anyway, and that’s good enough for me!

Having a cute day means actually feeling good about myself and helping others do the same. The images we’re bombarded with daily can make us feel terrible. How many times do you hear your friends say they’re fat or ugly? It’s not okay anymore. Women need to know their own worth. WE ARE CUTE!

to me have a cute day means having the self-confidence to make your day great and special and all those around you. You don’t have to do exciting things but do things that make you feel good about yourself. Cute is usually associated with cats or babies but anyone and everyone can be cute if you just feel happy about the way your life is going!! Feel good…
