bakewell_heart.jpgIf you love kitsch, crafty handmade jewellery, you’ll totes adore Strawberry poodle!

Cool name, cool prods - there really is nothing not to love about the fabulous duo, Danielle and Jenna - don’t believe me? Read on and find out for yourself, Pink Ladies!

Describe the girls behind the label in 5 words:
As sweet as cherry pie!

Tell us all about Strawberry Poodle, what is it? What’s with the name? When did you start?
We each made new years resolutions to own our own separate little empires but decided to join forces in February of this year when we realized that two crafty heads are better than one! Strawberry Poodle is a name randomly suggested by Danielle, as we are both consumers of strawberries and were not particularly offended by poodles. Voila!

When and how did you realise you were creative girls able to make fabulous-o treats that people would buy?

We have both always been creative and often experimented with new ventures. We used to make jewellery for ourselves, but started getting compliments on our pieces so decided to go global!

What was the first product you ever made?

Too many past creations to recall, but something along the lines of cute cameos ☺

Tell us about your product range, what you got to offer? What are your current favourite items? What inspires your too-cute designs?
We mostly create necklaces and brooches but are branching out to other bits and pieces such as earrings and rings. We recently combined our jewellery making with Jennas photography skills to create one off, limited edition pearl necklaces featuring sweet treat picture cameos. We draw our inspirations from so many different sources, we are generally inspired by everything we see, touch, feel, smell and experience! The world is a lovely place!

What’s the secret to your success?
It’s a secret ;)

Do you have to be all business-y too?

Not really, but it does help! Organisational skills are a good start. So long as you enjoy what you do, everything usually falls into place!

What’s a typical day in the life of you…

Crafting, tea drinking, friend making and having lots of fun!

unicorn_neclace.jpgHow do you promote your products?
We only make products we like ourselves, so word of mouth has helped us a lot. Also, regular bulletins…Myspace plays a massive part in exposing our products all over the world!

What’s been the best experience since setting up?

Meeting the people who keep us in business, especially at Pretty Crafty Things (an indie craft fair held in Leeds every month) Enjoying the ride!

As an official style-ista, what’s your ‘must-have’ accessory?

A big Mary Poppins style bag, to keep our endless supplies of sugary snacks in!

What would your soundtrack sound like?

Plinky plonky toy pianos meet big fluffy clouds playing the xylophone.

Do you have a style bible – a magazine, book that you completely dig?

We have slighty differring influences, Danielle likes illustration and designer toys, so magazines such as Clutter and Giant Robot really float her boat. Jenna sways more towards fashion and photography, and is more a book girl, so anything full of big colourful photographs is a must have!

What makes you jump-in-the-air-happy?
Succeeding!

What’s next in the world of you?
Seeing where the Strawberry Poodle parade takes us, living each day to the full and hopefully meeting more lovely people who like our jewellery!
