Think Pink author girl, Lisa Clark, in a ‘you ask, she answers’ type question and answer thing…
Author girl has received molto amountage of questions ’bout pink-world, me, the writing lark, being a journo-girl, being an agony aunt yada, yada… So to get the 411 - ohh, I came over all Americano then - on Lisa and all things pink, check in over the next couple of weeks when she’ll be hangin’ out here in pink-world to answer all your burnin’ questions - it’s time to turn the tables on the journo-girl!
Sam in Leicester asks: How much pink is there in your day-to-day life, Lisa, do you really Think Pink ?
There is a lot of pink in my world. I love me the pink!
Yep, I Think Pink on a daily basis, because pink thinking is positive thinking - and why would you wanna do anything but? I wear a LOT of pink too. If I’m having an antsy day where I’m all foot stompin’ grumpy, I put on a slick of pink lipgloss, my matching glitter-pink pumps and a variety of pink accessories, and I can’t fail to smile at my reflection!
In the book, Lola has pinked-tinted shades to highlight the benefits of seeing the so-called ‘real’ world filled with it’s constant comparisons, unrealistic media images and a need to strive for perfection, in a different, more positive way. Y’see when you Think Pink, anything is possible. You can live a life filled with thousands of candy-kissed, sunshine moments because you’re in control. What’s not to love about that?
Amy in Hull asks: Describe your ‘average’ writing day
Any writing day involves chocolate and green tea - mmmm! I’m total waster after 6pm so I get up early to make sure I can fit everything in! Since new year, I’ve also been doing a mornin beach walk, well, except for when it’s raining, I’m not that hardcore! Writing wise - it’s the whole ‘getting started bit’ I’m not so good at and will do anything to avoid it, like checkin’ emails - obsessively, going on Myspace, writing my blog, buying new music off itunes - when I do start though, I put on my huge shut-out-the-world headphones, and if I’m writing books I’ll have put together some inspir-o tunes that remind me of my characters to get me into the Think Pink zone - if I’m writing features I’ll just put Radio 1 on - I always leave features to the last minute, no matter how much time an ed-type gives me, rest assured I’ll be doing it the night before!
Ssssh, don’t tell them!
Jai asks: How did the ‘Think Pink’ series come about and how did you come up with Lola and the Pink Ladies?
So, I’m an agony aunt for teen magazine, Mizz and I get a scary amount of letters from girls who think life is major-league sucky. Low self-esteem, making new friends, hatin’ on their bodies or boy trouble - these were issues that were coming up time and time again.
I’d started work on a fiction series about a kooky clique called The Pink Ladies who found a pair of pink-tinted shades and their life significantly changed for the better, and after checking out the ‘life guide’ material that was currently available for girls, which seemed a little bit dry and dullsville, I thought it would be a great idea to try and combine the two - so I did.
Lola is a li’l bit me, although she’s so much cooler than I ever was at 14, but both her and the Pink Ladies are four girls I would just loved to have known when I was a teen girl, so writing about them is the best, coz I get to hang out with them on a daily basis, it rocks!
Ro in Winchester asks: What’s www.pink-world.co.uk all about and why do you think it’s so popular?
Pink-world is home to the very gorgeous Lola Love and is the ‘zine I’d always wanted to read. ‘Cept no one ever made it, which, is really rather rude. Instead, they made a whole lot of glossy zines that told me how to wear my hair, that size 00 was the new size 10 and that I should have serious life-envy of…well, everyone who wasn’t me basically.
Don’t get me wrong, I love glossy magazines - I write for them, I heart fashion, make-up and all things celeb, so while Pink-World shouts about ’bout Lola and I’s love for over-priced make-up (damn, that stuff is cute.) the secret to it’s success, according to you lovely reader types, is that it also interviews coolio-a-go-go women who are rockin’ at what they do, gives kudos to teen girls who are doing fabulous things and provides a weekly fix of everything a girl needs to feel feisty, fun, fearless and fabulous!
Chloe in Waterlooville asks: Who are your favourite writers?
Geez, there are so many…I love Emma Forrest, especially her book Namedropper, so good - she’s a journo girl too, her features are awesome - google her!
I adore FLB, Hilary Carlip, Cathy Cassidy - she is such a talent, American author Rachel Cohn, Meg Cabot - I hero worship her, Rowan Coleman and the dee-lish funny girl Louise Rennison
For un-putdownable-ness: I love, love, love Alison Bond and Belinda Jones - I wish they would write faster.
This section will be a regular feature, so any questions you need answering - either leave a comment or send an email!

Dear Lisa,
I thought that as you are an agony aunt, you could help me.
I met this boy at a holiday camp in dorset, and he was so nice. He is 19 and works there. I was really happy every time I saw him. I’ve fancied other boys before, but not like this. When I had to leave, I was really upset, and I have been since.
Should I really be getting upset over him, or should I go back and see him, or should I move on or…. WHAT?!!! I’m really confused, I need your help!
