Look what I’ve found! Unfortunately, it’s only available for readers in the US - boosville - but if you live in the Americano and have the skills to design a fabulous couture dress and the creativity to blow past obstacles, here’s your chance to prove it! Create a dress that will appear in an episode of ABC’s Golden Globe-winning series Ugly Betty!
Here’s the deal: Christina, Mode magazine’s resident keeper of “the closet,” is commissioned by a prominent celebrity to design a dress to be worn at a formal public event– but she’s snowed in at the office! With twelve hours to execute her design and no fabric to work with, Christina is forced to the use everyday office supplies to make her creation.
That’s where you come in. Help Christina make the formal dress!
Submit drawing(s) or sketch(es) of your Design, showing both the back and front of the garment, along with instructions on how to construct it (i.e. materials used, shape, form and color) only using office supplies such as tape, bubble wrap, shopping bags, calendars, shoe boxes, hole punchers, paper clips or newspaper, just to name a few. Also, submit an original Essay in 100 words or less, discussing the underlying concept for the Design.
A dress based on the winning design will appear in an upcoming episode of the show! The winning “designer” will receive a trip for two (2) to Los Angeles, CA for the taping of the Ugly Betty television show scheduled to take place on 02/02/2007, where a dress based upon the winner’s Design will be incorporated in the Show.

Hi
I’m writing from a television production company called Visual Voodoo – we are the sister company of ITN and deal in factual entertainment documentaries. We are currently searching for the real British Justin Suarez – Betty’s fashionista nephew in Channel 4’s Ugly Betty. In the show, Justin who is 12, is very fashion and body image conscious. He reads fashion magazines religiously and loves Fashion TV. His character is thought to be gay, although this has never been mentioned on the show.
Have you ever come across anyone of that nature in the course of running your site? If so, it would be great to hear about them. If we can find suitable characters, we hope to make a show that will offer them opportunities in the fashion world so it should certainly be worthwhile to anyone who fits the bill.
I would be extremely grateful for any help that you can give us.
Many thanks
Lissa.
