Well I was living in Nashville, Tennessee at the time when I heard the great news. I was about to move to the big apple, New York when I found out fredflare.com was hiring. I was so excited that I scheduled an interview a few hours after I landed in New York. fredflare.com is a breath of fresh air. Everyone here is so bright and we are having such a blast building our delectable empire of sweet treats!

For those who are not knowledgeable in all things FF - shame on them - what is it please miss Vanessa?
fredflare is the funnest store you will ever shop. Cute tees and au courant accouterments for you and you’re your crushes and besties and bffs! Come by for a visit! You can dance and shop at the same time when you blast our jammin boombox which features play lists by us freds. We also have a great podcast call the fredflare show. It’s genius!

What is it you actually do?
I am the customer service manager, office manager, and hair stylist here at fredflare.com. I oversee and process all your orders and respond to any inquiries anyone has about products and general questions. I make sure our ship runs full steam ahead. Doing hair with my co star make up artist Jen for hot top models is super fun too. My day is usually very busy and a lot of hard work.

Describe your working environment - we wanna know what the FF headquearters is really like!
Going to work everyday is like getting to go to an amusement park. Everyday is a new adventure. You have to be prepared for anything. Everyone here has tons of energy and the office is always bursting with new and genius ideas. My fave part would be dance parties that are held at the office quite often.

What’s the coolest thing ’bout working at Fred Flare?
Working here is an absolute dream. I am the luckiest girl in the universe. The best thing about being here would definitely be that I get to hang out with the coolest people, my work mates. Everyone here is such a whiz kid at what they do. I am inspired everyday by each one of them.

What are those two cute cuties from cutesville, Chris and Keith really like to work for?
Chris and Keith are the founders of fredflare.com. Those guys are two of the funnest people I know. I wanna be just like them when I grow up! Working with them is so phenomenal. Everyone here shares ideas and we all brainstorm on how to keep getting better. We all come from different creative backgrounds. It is so moving for me to see us all come together to dream up something marvelous.

What’s your most favourite Fred Flare item?
Well, the hottest product would have to be the taco cosmetic case, which is designed by yours truly and with help from our designer Amy. Its so cute you can carry real tacos in it!

When you’re not at work, what do you dig doing?
Out of work, I do more work! I design clothes and cut hair. I hold monthly hair cutting parties with friends too. I also design clothes for various clients. When I am not doing those things, I do what any normal girl does; talk on the phone, have fun dinner parties, and shop. My dog and I hang out a lot. We visit the park in my neighborhood in Brooklyn frequently. I love a good dance party! I am also going to take up a cooking class since I love food so much.

What 5 tracks would be on a Vanessa soundtrack and what would your soundtrack be called?
As I mentioned earlier, you can check out my delicious tracks on fredflare.com’s boombox. My DJ name is Sticky Sweet Rice Cake Sessions. At the moment I have been enjoying the latest Shins album “Wincing the night away”. My rotation includes Phil Collins, Belle & Sebastian, anything by the Carpenters, the Sea and Cake, Hall and Oats and Camera Obscura. I would name my soundtrack Happy Amaze Sparkle Dazzle Dancer Jamz!

Favourite movie of all time?
Another super tough question! Right now I am addicted to watching Superstar, starring Molly Shannon, American Splendor, Clueless, and Romy and Michelle’s High school Reunion. Oh, and Mean Girls is one of the best movies ever made! If I had to choose a hands down fave of all DVD’s, it would be Wet Hot American Summer, the entire Office series (BBC of course) and the Peep Show series too!

What are your plans for the future?
The future is so huge. I just take everyday and just run with it. Staying busy with creative projects is always my goal. I am not sure what the future holds for me. My dream one day is to have a bakery/hair studio. I always loved the idea of getting a cute do and going home with a yummy treat.

Any advice for Pink Ladies who want to do a job they love and just be generally as fabsville as your beauty*licious self?
My advice for anyone would be to stay positive! Jobs and life will throw insane things at you. You just have to catch them all and turn them into something great. Talents shine the most when you are confident in yourself. You create your own future so start building it now!
